AZORES: HIKING AROUND SETE CIDADES LAKES

I am fiiiiiinaly back with another blog post from the Azores series. The one I still owe you.  It’s actually about one of our favourite places in Sao Miguel island, so I am asking myself why I haven’t shared it here yet. Better late than never, I guess. I was in a bit strange mood this previous week. Strange – in a good way. A mixture of tired, but feeling very accomplished and content at the same time. This spring was long and cold and I had many goals to accomplish and I can finally say I did the most of them. I feel like now we’re in for a…

ON THE HIGHEST PEAK OF GRAN CANARIA – ROQUE NUBLO

I would say we were quite lucky with the weather on our previous hikes, for example on the highest peak of Tenerife (whole post about it here: https://majalampe.com/2018/07/27/on-the-highest-peak-of-spain-el-teide-3718m-and-getting-mountain-sickness/) as well as on the highest peak of Madeira ( whole post about it here: https://majalampe.com/2019/07/16/a-hike-to-the-highest-peak-of-madeira-pico-ruivo/). This time luck was not on our side haha, but we still had a great time, since it was not just about the destination but we enjoyed the whole experience. I have to admit we did not pay a lot of attention to the weather forecast, but just picked a random day to go to the mountains instead. From the coast (where we stayed) the weather…

AZORES: A PLACE WHERE I SAID “YES”

Huh, okay here we go again. I can start this post by “it’s been a while”, like any other post I’ve written recently. I had no time to write blog posts on the top of everything else that’s been going on for the last couple of months, so that’s the main reason why there’s been a lack of posts. How original of me, I know. I’ve finally decided to write a bit about our engagement. I know some of you requested I share our story, so that’s what I’m doing. And I don’t want this post to come up as some “blogger sharing their amazing story of how they got…

    MADEIRA: 25 FONTES WATERFALL

Madeira is known by numerous beautiful waterfalls, so in case you ever find yourself visiting the island, seeing at least one waterfall is a must! Tripadvisor is a good place to search info about different waterfall hikes and tours. You will find everything there, from hike duration , to difficulty, options for guided tours etc., so in case you don’t know which waterfall to choose, Tripadvisor is the answer. Visiting the “25 Fontes Waterfall” is one of the best memories I have from Madeira. It’s also one of the most known waterfalls in Madeira, therefore it can get really crowded there as well. Taking this into consideration, we intentionally chose…

HIKE TO NANOS HILL (AND PREPARING FOR A TRIP)

This hike was another very spontaneous decision. After a busy week we were lying in our bed on Friday night, just before falling asleep, when it occured to us – if we sleep in tomorrow, there won’t be much from that day. “Do you want to go somewhere tomorrow?” “You mean, on a trip?” “Sure.” “Well, I am kind of running out of the ideas. I don’t want to go the seaside again, because it gets too crowded on weekends” “Actually, I had something different in mind. Maybe something more active. Want to go for a hike, I was thinking about Nanos?” “Great, Nanos it is!” That’s exactly how we…
