MADEIRA: TREKKING ALONG THE PONTA DE SÃO LOURENÇO PENINSULA.

We have decided to go on this trekking after spending a few days in woods and mountains in the middle of the island. We figured a change of location would be a nice contrast to a foggy and windy heights. If this sounded as a complain over past few days, it was not! Far from it. If you know me at all, you know how much I love woods and I would probably choose foggy woods over a beach 9 times out of 10. Ponta de São Lourenço is situated on the very east point of the island. It’s a barren peninsula with cliffs, and the only way to see it…

HIKE TO NANOS HILL (AND PREPARING FOR A TRIP)

This hike was another very spontaneous decision. After a busy week we were lying in our bed on Friday night, just before falling asleep, when it occured to us – if we sleep in tomorrow, there won’t be much from that day. “Do you want to go somewhere tomorrow?” “You mean, on a trip?” “Sure.” “Well, I am kind of running out of the ideas. I don’t want to go the seaside again, because it gets too crowded on weekends” “Actually, I had something different in mind. Maybe something more active. Want to go for a hike, I was thinking about Nanos?” “Great, Nanos it is!” That’s exactly how we…

    SNOW DAYS IN SLOVENIA

Hoping it’s not the end of the winter and praying for some more snow in the near future, I decided to share some photos of days spent in the snow. Sadly there weren’t many this year (yet), but those few were great! We ended up taking quite a few photos, enough for entire blog post, so here I am sharing them with you. Photos were taken in the begining of January, when woods were full of fresh snow and everything was so beautiful. In my opinion winter is second most beautiful season (if there is snow!), right after autumn of course! What do you think about it? I will let…

    DOLOMITES: LAGO DI SORAPIS

If you ever visit Dolomites, Lago di Sorapis is another must see thing! To be honest every day spent in the Dolomites was amazing, but the day we hiked to Lago di Sorapis was my favourite. Why? Keep on reading. We left our car not far from the Misurina passo and headed to the lake. The day before, when we hiked around Tre Cime di Lavredo (read more about it here ) the weather was sunny and surprisingly warm regarding the altitude. Most of the hike all we wore was a t-shirt. On the day of visitng Lago di Sorapis the weather was even better, crystal clear skies, not a single cloud, but it got…

DOLOMITES: HIKING AROUND TRE CIME DI LAVAREDO

One of the main activities you’d want to do when visiting Dolomites , is definitely a walk around Tre Cime di Lavaredo. Tre Cime are three peaks and they are probably one of the most known and iconic peaks in Dolomites. You can recognize them by the distinctive shape. There is a fee you need to pay entering the Tre Cime National Park. You pay a car rate which is quite expensive (around 30€), but well worth it at the end. You park your car on the huge parking lot at the foot of the Tre Cime, on the elevation of 2333 metres. From the parking there are numerous hiking…
