CHASING LAST WARM AUTUMN DAYS AT ZELENICA

Autumn hikes and photos have really become one big hit of Instagram. Everyone I know (also the ones who never hike) went “out of their comfort zone” and embarked on a hunt for golden/yellow – colored larch trees. I mean it’s admirable if other’s photos motivate you so much, you go hiking yourself, but the question remains – did you go for yourself or for that photo to prove others you’ve been there as well? A few of my friends went to the most popular autumn hiking destination in Slovenia – Slemenova Špica. I used to hike there every autumn (and still do -“out of season”) but not for the…

    DIARIES: WELCOME TO WILD AZORES

We were ready for another adventure, this time – for the wild Azores. The day we came there scored high in my ” best travel days”. I am trying to find an appropriate word to describe that day, and the word that keeps popping in my brain is “smooth“, so we’ll have to go with that. A flight was a special experience itself. I am a person who still tries to find some romance in flying and all that airport jungle, but for the last couple of years this is really tough. I hate how mass tourism made whole flying experience like a bus ride, just with a lot more…

    ROADTRIPPING THROUGH NORTHERN GERMANY

Well, it’s been a while and I am finally back with a new blog post. This summer has been my busiest so far and I could not find time or motivation to write. Sitting behind computer for so many hours every day work-wise, definitely added to my reluctance to stay there any longer than necessary. That’s my excuse for being absent here, whether you like it or not. But more importantly I am back and ready to share some new adventures with you (and some old ones – I know I still owe you a bunch of posts and photos from Azores and they are coming!) So as I said…

A HIKE TO THE HIGHEST PEAK OF MADEIRA: PICO RUIVO

Hike to Pico Ruivo is probably on every hiker’s bucket list when visiting Madeira, and that’s exactly how it got on our bucket list as well! The most challenging variable of this hike was of course – the weather. If bad weather conditions previously enabled us to have one of the most famous waterfalls in Madeira to ourselves (read more about it here: https://majalampe.com/2019/06/16/madeira-25-fontes-waterfall/) , it was different this time. The main reason behind our decision to hike on Pico Ruivo were promising views over the whole island, so in case of fog there was no point in going. We would check the weather at Pico Ruivo for the next…

    MADEIRA: VISITING BOTANICAL GARDENS

In my previous post I’ve promised my next one will be about our hike to the highest peak of Madeira, but it’s been a busy week so I am coming to you with a bit less time consuming post. I want to have more time for the post about the hike, I don’t want it to be rushed. To continue the “Madeira series”, one day we’ve visited botanical gardens situated in Funchal, the capital of Madeira. The weather was cloudy, which was perfect for a bit more laid back day. If you follow my blog for some time you might know, regarding to a place we are visiting, we always…
