DOLOMITES: HIKING AROUND TRE CIME DI LAVAREDO

One of the main activities you’d want to do when visiting Dolomites , is definitely a walk around Tre Cime di Lavaredo. Tre Cime are three peaks and they are probably one of the most known and iconic peaks in Dolomites. You can recognize them by the distinctive shape.

There is a fee you need to pay entering the Tre Cime National Park. You pay a car rate which is quite expensive (around 30€), but well worth it at the end.

You park your car on the huge parking lot at the foot of the Tre Cime, on the elevation of 2333 metres. From the parking there are numerous hiking paths, but the most known and the one we choose to hike is a path that takes you around the majestic peaks. You get a good look of them from every perspective. It’s hardly a hike but more of a walk, since there is no walking uphill.

First hour of hiking I could not stop myself from taking pictures. I must have taken hundreds of them, but there was so much to document. As soon as you walk around Tre Cime on the other side, you are surprised by so many amazing views over other mountains and peaks, plus Tre Cime look even more majestic from there.

NOW WE GET TO A QUESTION – How to harmonize taking pictures (that are not just random pictures but a material for blog posts) and enjoying the moment without camera?

It is actually really easy. My blog is for fun, because I love to share our adventures with my readers so I never feel obligated to do anything. When I go on a trip I never pressure myself I need to take enough quality photos to make a blog post, I go with the flow – if there is a good amount of photos I can use at the end I make one, if I do not feel like taking photos and trying to capture something I will not do it. The key is to have fun, never to pressure yourself let alone to feel obligated. It is my hobby and I love taking photos and writing about our adventures. It also makes me really happy when someone tells me my blog posts and pictures inspired them to visit to a certain place.

Now all that has been said, after a first hour of taking so many pictures that we took with passion, we put or cameras on the side and for the rest of our hike took pictures only with our eyes. We passed over to a totally different state of mind, so it was just us, beautiful mountains, fresh air and pure joy. We forgot about everything, just living the moment. That may sound cheesy, but that’s exactly how we felt. I remember I said to myself “I feel so good probably every cell of my body is smiling right now” haha.

After our hike we had a lunch in a mountain cabin near the parking and that was something you call “A lunch with a view”. In the late afternoon we returned to our little cabin where we stayed and had a good rest, because we planned another hike for the next day. More about that in my next post!
