Every Slovene has probably visited Bohinj at least once in their lifetime, if not many times. Since not all my readers are Slovene, I have decided to share some photos from our recent trip to Bohinj with you anyway. I guess this post will be far more interesting for my foreign audience. Anyways, if you had visited Bohinj many times and still enjoy to see some well-known places from a different perspective – hop in, and enjoy the ride.
Last week was Easter holiday and for the majority of time the weather was pretty miserable. On the last day everything had changed and all of a sudden it was sunny and warm. That kind of weather just called for a short road trip – so we drove to Bohinj.
Besides that I just got a new phone and I wanted to test the camera, which turned out to be really amazing (the quality of photos is so good I almost don’t need my Canon DSLR anymore! No just kidding – he’s still my baby! ). No, but really, I was amazed by the quality and features of the camera. You can see for yourself, because all pictures in this post are taken with my new phone.
- SAVICA WATERFALL
Our first stop was Savica waterfall. Since we were pretty early, we were almost alone, which was a nice surprise. It takes you about 20 minutes to hike on the top. The hiking trail to the waterfall is easy so you don’t need any specific hiking gear. A pair of good walking shoes or trainers will do the job. On the top, you get an amazing view over the waterfall and the view is definitely worth the effort. Furthermore you also get a view over a part of Lake Bohinj.
As we walked back down, the number of people hiking to the top began to increase rapidly. When we returned to the parking lot, it was packed with cars. There were numerous tourists, families with children who have just arrived. We were glad we have come so early, we were basically alone up there.
2. LAKE BOHINJ
Our second stop was Lake Bohinj, of course. We got a bit hungry from the hike and decided to get coffee and eat our lunch by the lake. After that we had a nice long walk along the coast and enjoyed the sun.
Trip to Bohinj was a great way to end our Easter holiday. We filled ourselves with energy and sun rays and thanks to that, the upcoming working week was a bit easier because of that.
If you love to hike and discover new trails stay tuned for another hiking-themed post, which will be up on my blog later this week (there will be some great views).
Whether you prefer more romantic, seaside places – there will be a lot of that on my blog in next two or three months, so stay tuned for that as well.
