HIKING IN VELIKA PLANINA

Well it’s the middle of March and this winter just doesn’t want to be over. As much as I enjoy the arrival of spring, I can’t say I didn’t like this year’s a bit longer winter. In the given circumstances, we decided to exploit the snow to the fullest and headed hiking to Velika planina.Β

I can openly say this was one of this winter’s top hikes. The weather was very changeable throughout the day, which was a plus, therefore we were almost alone up there. One second it was warm and sunny and a few minutes later it was foggy, windy and freezing cold.

Every time we would stop to take a sip of water, we were affected by the beauty and tranquility of the landscape. The only thing we could hear were each other and the howling wind. It was painfully beautiful and it’s hard to rephrase it, but I am sure you’ve all been in a similar situation before so you know what I am talking about.

At the end of our 4 hour hike, nothing felt better than finding a cottage to eat and drink hot tea. We decided to go with a typical Slovenian dish “jota”, which I haven’t eaten for a long time. I am not afraid to say this was one of the best “jotas” I’ve ever had, I just can’t explain was it really that good or was the hunger talking.

Okay, I promise this is last winter-themed post for this season haha. There are more springish posts coming very soon, and some travel posts as well (hint hint!). I am travelling somewhere in april. This time it’s somewhere warm (not hot, but warmer than Slovenia), somewhere very beautiful and somewhere I’ve never been before. Any guesses? leave a comment down below.
