This weekend we were in for some exploring. In midst of our usual saturday morning breakfast, randomly “Pokljuka gorge” had crossed my mind. I thought I haven’t visited it for a while and the fact that me and my family used to go there quite often, brought me to the idea of going there now. We’ve never visited it together and my boyfriend told me he’d never been there before. We live only a few kilometres away and he’s never visited it – how ridiculous is that? haha! And so we went.
There’s only a 10-minute drive to the gorge from our home town – which was very satisfying. After leaving the car at the bottom of a hiking path, we set off for a short hike towards the gorge. The path is very favourable according to a level of difficulty, so everyone can do it.
We came to the steep rockface – the entrance to the gorge. The gorge itself is beautiful and even though I’ve been there at least 10 times, it fascinated me again. It reminded me of what an exceptional artist our nature is! Urban loved it as well and he was most fascinated by the fact that he never knew this even existed – so close to his home.
We walked over the bridge attached to the high rockface. If you are a climber, this is absolutely nothing, but for normal people – it gives you just the right amount of adrenaline haha. The bridge lead us into the cave and further through the cave – there is a clearing in the middle of the woods overgrown with fern. It’s like finding oneself in the middle of the rainforest.
Visiting the “Pokljuka gorge” is a nice short gateway where you have a bit of recreation, adrenaline and beautiful views – all in one. I’m glad I’m still finding new places (close to our home) to take my beloved one to. This was (probably) the last short trip before our summer vacation, which starts in just a few days (yaaaaay!) and that means I’ll be writing a ton – new places, beaches, cities and a looot of summer-themed photos. Who’s with me?
